Little Black Bag Review November 2013

I had my eye on this London Fog bag for a long time. I didn't own a black bag, and Little Black Bag seemed like a pretty good place to find one

London Fog Blake Tote ($175) My picture doesn't do it justice, so I'm adding the Little Black Bag picture as well. This bag is slim, professional, and classic. It's also part of the "Weather or Not" line which means I can use it in the rain without worrying about water damage. The only things I don't like are its lack of outside pockets and the gaps around the zippers (i.e. if I had something small in my bag and the bag was upside down, there's a chance it could slip out even when zipped).
Nume Ionic Hair Dryer ($225) I honestly never use hair dryers, so I have no use for this. I'm going to try to sell it online for far less, but it might end up being part of a gift. Either way, it's a good high value item and I'm sure someone can use it. I think the zebra print is pretty cute too!
Xela Citrus Candle ($30) I love candles, and although citrus scents aren't my favorite I do like them. I ended up gifting this, but I easily could have used it myself. I hate buying candles since they get used up so quickly, so I love getting them in boxes.
Timi Lace Panties ($13) These are admittedly kind of a weird item. But I love getting new undies, and these are one size fits all, so I'm totally okay with it. At least I can use them (unlike some of the awful jewelry Little Black Bag sends out)!
Dye Ties ($12) I gave one set (the set on the left) to a friend. These are basically Twistbands. I like them, but honestly I like "regular" hair ties just as well and they cost an awful lot less. These look a lot prettier on the wrist, though!

I love my bag, and I got some pretty amazing extras this time around, too! I paid $95.90 and got $455 worth of stuff. I definitely can't splurge like this all the time, but this is a great value for my money since I wanted a nice black bag anyway.

If you haven't heard about Little Black Bag, here's the premise: you pick one "main" item, then Little Black Bag surprises you with several other "surprise" items. If you don't like your surprise items, you can trade them with other members for up to a week. If you're happy with your selections before then, you can lock them in and have them send out your bag right away. I love that I can trade items I dislike for items I can actually use. There's still a surprise element but also some utility.

Little Black Bag has free item promos fairly often (the dye ties were an extra promotional item), so I recommend waiting until they have one of those to order. When you do, use this link to purchase and it will take 25% off your first bag on top of the extra item. Happy shopping!

Little Black Bag Review September 2013

I haven't opened a Little Black Bag for awhile, but I found a classic bag I loved, and I just had to go for it. The premise of Little Black Bag is that you get to pick your "big item" and then be surprised by the other items. The good thing is that you get to trade your items. In my case, I got a couple of hideous jewelry items, which I was able to trade for other items of slightly lower retail value. I would rather have items I like than items with a high retail value.

This is the bag I picked out. I took a pretty terrible picture so I'm going to post Little Black Bag's photo as well.
London Fog Knightsbridge Tote ($150) I love all the pockets in this bag, and I needed a classic medium sized black bag. This will be great for winter!
First Aid Beauty Dual Repair Face Cream, Travel Size ($18) This was actually listed as First Aid Beauty Eye Cream in my account. I am so bummed I ended up with a face cream instead! I get so many moisturizers that I was excited for an eye cream for once!
XELA Aroma Linen Classic Candle ($30) This candle smells AMAZING. Hands down the nicest linen scent I have ever smelled. I can't wait to burn it!
Sebastian Shaper ($17) I needed a fancy hair spray, so I'm excited to have been able to trade some of my hideous jewelry for this. Thank goodness!

I paid $75.90 for all the items, including shipping charges and tax. I got $215 worth of stuff, so that's a pretty wonderful deal! If you want to buy your own Little Black Bag under my referral link, click here. You'll get 25% off your first bag!

Little Black Bag Review May 2013

I don't get Little Black Bags every month, but if I see something that really catches my eye, I will sometimes take the plunge.

I told myself that the next time I went for one, it had to be a wallet. Mine is definitely looking worse for wear and I have hardly and wallets and no "nice" ones. Besides, a lot of the time if I go shopping or out to dinner or something I'll bring only the wallet, so I want it to look good.

Here's my kitty enjoying the box. This is how I "reuse" my boxes: for the enjoyment of our cats!
Here's the wallet in question. It's a really deep green color with black accents from Ivanka Trump. This wallet retails for $75, well over the cost of the entire package. If some of you are unaware, this is how Little Black Bag works: you pick your first item, then Little Black Bag surprises you with additional items, which you are free to trade within the site. So even if you hate one of your "surprise" items, you can almost always get something you love.

This was my first item, and I decided to keep it. It's a massage candle from Objects with Purpose ($20). It smells amazing, and I've been meaning to try massage candles forever. Massage candles have a higher melting point, which means you can pour the hot wax onto someone's back safely. The wax is made differently than other candle waxes, so it also turns into a massage oil when melted. Can't wait to try it out, and I could never justify this purchase at full retail price!
My second item was these Via Spiga knee highs ($10). The package shows nude knee highs but these are actually black with gold shimmer. The awesome part about this is that it comes with two pairs! I originally had a pair of ugly earrings but was able to trade them away for these. Score! The trading is definitely what makes Little Black Bag so fun.
The final item in my box is the Pixi Lid Last Shadow Pen ($18) in Bronze Brilliance. This is a nice medium brown color that will look great in a smoky eye or as a makeshift liner. I don't have any shadow pens yet, so I'm thrilled to be able to test it out!

I got $123 dollars worth of stuff for only $50, and I'm in love with all of it! I even sent my mom her very own custom curated (by me) Little Black Bag for Mother's Day. Little Black Bag March 2013

This month I decided to get a Little Black Bag. Technically I have a subscription, but I skip every month, then just buy something if I absolutely fall in love with it. Well, I fell in love this month, and I just couldn't resist.

  • You can choose a $49.95 item or a $29.95 item.
  • For the $49.95 bag, you choose one item and LBB chooses 2-3 more. The bags are guaranteed to retail for $100-$140.
  • For the $29.95 bag, you choose one item and LBB chooses 1-2 more. The bags are guaranteed to retail for $50-$70.
  • The best part about LBB is that you get to trade your items if you don't like them! I usually don't love what I get originally, but it's really easy to trade for items you do want. For the small bag, you get 3 days to trade. For the large bag, you get 7 days to trade.
Okay, so, let's get to the bag!

I just love the way LBB handles their packaging! I think it's super adorable, and each item was well-wrapped. You can tell that these items are premium quality, and they are NOT factory rejects.
First, here's the bag I picked:

I love this in person even more than I did online! The first photo actually shows a magnetic opening to an outside pocket. This is going to be perfect for books or my iPad! I thought this was just for decoration or opened into the main compartment, but nope! Definitely a pleasant surprise. This is THE perfect bag! The second photo shows a handy little outside pocket, which I also love of course. This bag retails for $77.

The next item is the "Polynesian Pearl" pillar candle from Goose Creek. The scent is described as "a cashmere blanket on a cool night while enjoying vanilla blossom, sugared raspberry, iced coconut and sandalwood milk." Hmm. I didn't quite get that, but vanilla, coconut, raspberry, and sandalwood are all definitely there. This candle retails for $12.

Finally, the Vanilla Wonderland candle from Goose Creek. Originally I had a pair of earrings that I didn't care for, so I traded for this. I love candles, so I can always use more! This one is a vanilla peppermint combination. I love the jar this comes in, but the lid isn't vacuum sealed. I always pick it up from the lid, then I feel like an idiot when the candle doesn't come with it. This one retails for $20. That means my bag retails for $109! Definitely a steal since I only paid $49.95.

I LOVE Little Black Bag! The packaging is great, the items are premium, and trading can be really fun if you have time to do it. Plus, you can always be certain that you'll end up with items you like. If you're interested in your own Little Black Bag, they're running a promotion for a free $17 hair spray with every order. Go for it! I highly recommend it.
